I didn't buy my new mustang for great gas mileage but I do want to get the most out of my car. Ford says that I should be able to get around 26 miles on the highway. But the best I've gotten is 22-23mpg. I set the cruise at 70mph and don't gun it during acceleration. I'm not sure how Ford got that number. I am getting around 18-19 in the city but I want to get around 26 on the highway since I drive longer distances on the weekends. What mpg's are you guys getting and how are you getting it? Thanks.
Driving a four hour drive doing 75 mph i got 26.2 mpg the car had 500 miles when i did that a buddy of mine got 27.8 on the same trip so it can be done.
Are you running the AC on these longer highway trips? I did fairly extensive (1000+ mile) testing on my '11 GT when driving to and from Canada. On one trip, I drove the entire time with the AC on, and averaged about 2-3mpg less than when I made the exact same journey with the windows down the entire way.
I got worse gas mileage when it was new, after i broke it in abit I got a couple more MPGs. i think the best i got was 25mpg, but i have an auto so thats also to be expected, cruise was set to 70.
I drove from winston salem n.c to deal's gap witch is about 300 miles one way so a total of about 650 miles andf it was with the window down some of the way and the air.
I get about 17-18 city which doesn't surprise me since I like to drive the car the way it's made to be driven. I've gotten as high as 27mpg on the highway although that was a rare occasion. I get 26-27 on the highway only if I cruise at about 60-63mph, if I even move up to 65mph I drop about 1mpg. I wonder what kind of mileage I could squeeze out if I drove at 55mph
Yes I have had the A/C on. It has been over 100 degrees lately in Oklahoma and A/C is a must. I can try slowing down to 65 but if I go any slower I'll probably be run over.
