Still not buying it. The original was a pony car, the one's we have now are muscle cars.
I like this wiki although I don't fully agree with it. Its still sums up the past well to me.

I guess you could call it the new generation muscle car. It's not a sports car no matter how many comparsions you post. I've owned 6 mustangs and two corvettes and the vette is a sports car.
Us old folk still call it a Pony car. In my younger days Muscle cars were larger than todays full sized sedan hence Mustang, Camaro etc. got the tag of Pony car.

Took post number 22, before the viper even got a mention.
Never looked up any definitions for pony, muscle, sports etc, but think of 2-seaters as sports cars. The S197 is a brick aerodynamically. Doesn't matter how much hp, striping, or macho names you add, still not a sports.
