Default CAI +Bama tune = what

Whats the real deal? On AM site they review cai with tunes and show dyno gains of 60hp with an airaid system. Then i read ppl saying 20hp realistically. Can anyone comment on this? What were the gaons after this mod? Any gtech pros out there?

I wanna get a cai but skeptical about tunes. Ive never had any luck with them and just find them to be bogus.

Not bogus at all. I think 30-40 hp is more realistic with a 91 or 93 octane tune. I don't have one yet (will soon) but people say there's a definite seat of the pants hp increase.

I have never had a CAI or a tune on any of my Mustangs until this one. I must say the difference is pretty amazing. I can't tell you dyno numbers and all that stuff, but I could immediately notice a difference. I am currently running the 93 octane tune. The 89 octane tune might be my favorite though. The power seems to be in different areas with different tunes. Can't tell you about the 87 octane since I have yet to ever install it. I noticed a huge difference in throttle response, little louder sound from the exhaust, and the thing just wants to go. Worth every penny in my book.

Currently running the 93 Race tune from Bama trust me you'll notice a difference and its certainly not bogus. Also they posted gains of 60 hp with the CAI and tune combined with the Boss 302 intake manifold from ford racing.

I don't have any before and after dyno runs but my seat of the pants dyno tells me the difference before and after the tune and CAI is HUGE. Once you install that CAI and put a 93 octane race tune on her, she comes alive and you will always be driving with a smile on your face, trust me its worth every penny .

Thanks for the replies. Now which one to get. The airaid was the most gain but i just like the look of the steeda aad they still use the factory cold air direct from the fender.

They'll all net you pretty much the same amount of power. SteedaGus actually made a thread about that and showed dyno graphs proving that they're all about the same power-wise. I'm going to get the Steeda because I like the looks of it, it seems to be a better built piece, and I want to support the Mustang only companies if possible.

The airaid CAI uses the factory air direct too.

All of the before and after dyno #'s that I've read for the 5.0 point to 30-40 RWHP gains as fact. Which makes sense since the 4.6L stock is about 265 RWHP and gains about 20-25 RWHP which is about an 8% gain. The 5.0 stock dynos at about 350-360 RWHP and I suspect it's a bit more receptive to tuning due to Ford detuning them to maintain the CAFE requirements so I find a 10% or so gain on the 5.0 quite doable.

The real deal is peak numbers are more like about a 15 HP gain.
