I just got my 2012 gt 5.0 last Wednesday and wow!
Hey guys i traded my 04 gt in for a 2012 gt 5.0 premium, and wow this car is is extremely fast. I work for a large dealership that sells Fords, Chevy's, Nissan's, Infinity's Hyundai's, and Mitsubishi's. So i got a great deal on the car price rebates and financing. I'm a sales consultant at our Chevy store which means i have access to Corvette's,Camaro's Tahoe's etc...I had a guy come in last Friday he wanted to look at a 2012 Corvette Gran sport 438hp version. He came with his 21 year old son who was involved in the decision process. I couldn't let them both go in the car. So i offered to take his son on a test ride then Come back and let dad drive it with me in it. keep in mind this is the 1st test drive i took after acquiring my new 5.0 which has 3:73 gears in it. I jumped on the throttle in 1st to show the kid what the car could do. It spun tires pretty good but when i hit 2nd gear i couldn't help but to notice that it didn't pull as strong as my 5.0. I hit third and the same thing it just didn't have the thrust my mustang has. I decided to look up some 0-60 stats on the car as well as quarter mile times and to my surprise its slower then my car 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile.. it does 0-60 in 4.7 5.0= 4.5 its quarter mile time= 13.1. The 5.0= 12.7. The Camaro ss does 0-60 4.8 and a quarter mile=13.3...You'd be surprised at how many Chevy guys think this grand sport is fast, and it is but they don't expect to be beaten by a 5.0..way to go Ford, The Coyote engine is a beast and its only 302 cubic inches...

yeah, he said 2012 vette... i'm shocked that the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times are slower, the vette is supposed to weigh about 400lbs less than the mustang, and having more HP.. just doens't make a lot of sense.. dunno though, bench racing vs real life i guess... dohc 4v ti-vct revving over 7,000 RPM vs the overhead valve making the difference? I dunno... still doesn't seem right.

The vette is still faster. The new GT can be made quick with mods, but stock there's no way that vette is gonna lose to the mustang. More power and 400 lbs lighter? Magazine times aren't always the best things to judge by. Some mags have got times from 12.7 to a 13.3 from a 2011 GT.

The stock gears in the grandsport are 3:42 mine are 3:73's maybe with all things equal the vette will edge out a 5.0 but i'm telling the vette i drove doesn't feel as strong as my car...

OP,
Stop being a Mustang fanboy. Your mustang is way way way slower than a 2012 Corvette Gran Sport. Just because it doesn't "feel" as strong, doesn't mean it is. A Corvette would murder your car in a race.
Lets use stats from two places. Motor Trend and the http://www.zeroto60times.com/ site you posted.
According to your site:
1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 0-60 mph 4.6 Quarter mile 13.1
2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 0-60 mph 3.8 Quarter mile 12.0
2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 0-60 mph 4.5 Quarter Mile 13.0
The stats you posted for the Corvette were from the 1996 Gran Sport. A current gen Grand Sport gets to 60 miles per hour is under 4 seconds and runs the quarter mile a full second faster than your car.
According to Motor Trend:
2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport 0-60 mph 3.9 Quarter mile 12.2
2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 0-60 mph 4.3 Quarter Mile 12.8
Even though Motor Trend got slower times for the Corvette and faster times for the Mustang, the Corvette is still .4 seconds faster to 60 and more than half a second faster through the 1/4 mile.
