Default headers.. worth the $$$ for its gains?

hey guys i have a 2012 mustang 5.0 stock for now.. planning on a vortech supercharger!!

i need to free the exhaust a bit.. ill be doing a gt500 axle back first.. but ive seen that alot of people are installing x pipes and are gaining 14-21rwhp! and ive seen headers + x pipe gains which where around 25-30.. is it worth spending? also i am located in dubai so if i where to buy an ARH set it would cost me 1980$ shipped. the x pipe is obviously much much cheaper also i am not trying to squeeze every hp out of it just looking for a fun DD car

Check out brenspeed. You can go headers to the tail of the car with the pypes system. Tested through pypes it netted 45hp and 19torque. You can purchase everything headers, x pipe, catback system for 1400 total. I have it and it screams.

I wouldn't do LT headers, just because the cost is so high. Axle-back exhaust is for sound only, doesn't add horsepower. O/R X is probably your best bet on cheap power. The LT headers are expensive by themselves ($1000) and to install them is a pain in the *** so shops charge a lot if you want someone to do it for you. can easily be $2000 for LT headers with install charge.

on the other hand, if you have the cash I say why not go for it? maximize your power... I just can't afford them personally.

He is correct. Cost 655 dollars here locally for a long tube header install so depending on what you buy it can get up there. Thas why I ended up going with the pypes system. 849 with the x pipe. Pretty good deal. Many of the other long tube headers are north of a thousand and most require an x pipe hook up. It can easily reach 2000 bucks..

since you are going to have a power adder, i wouldn't go cheap on the exhaust. also the factory cats are all ready flowing about the max. if you don't get rid of that restriction, you not really freeing up a lot more flow. LT headers, O/R x-pipe, tune w/ delete cat should free up some flow.

o, and the install on the headers is a job best done by a pro, unless you are comfortable supporting the car and engine overhead.
