There are a number of different "extended" warranties available.
When I worked at Ford an Oil Additive Company Wynn's had a power train
warranty program if you used there additives based on a maintenance schedule. I had the opportunity to see a demonstration of there oil additive product, and it does provide added protection.
Mobile 1 also has a limited "warranty". I know of one customer who had his engine replaced by mobile 1, due to a poor batch of oil. Supercharged engine and heat broke down the oil. Customer used Mobile 1 since his first oil change.
Having extra warranty is great even if it never gets used, have your service adviser make a note if you use a product that carries a limited warranty, this would help with a future trade in or resale.
