Safe Air intake options for 2013-14 Models
Hi I thought Id make a post of the following Air Intake Options that are safe to use on the 2013-14 Models with the hood vents. Basicly any model that has its own enclosed box. This leaves us with the AEM Intakes and the KN models to the best of my knowledge. KN claims a higher horsepower gain then AEM however AEM uses a dry filter. Both sytems look like they will keep water out if you have hood vents.
In my opinion supplying a cover,a sock or a piece of foil to help deflect water, or worse yet 6 inches of 30 cent foam, are all band aids in order to not develop a new product and continue the sale of current air intakes. I'm specifically pointing my finger at JLT and AirRaid. Im unsure of steeda's fix but I would suggest developing a closed box.

"and I don't have to worry about that pesky 420+hp from a stock intake on a 5.0."
Love the quote. The stock air box is a good choice and certainly keeps water out.
Ill be trying the Kn typhoon intake on my car. It should be here sometime next week I will post some pictures of the fit.

dyno
Unfortunately I dont have access to a dyno. And I have no seat of pants dyno. Im expecting the type of difference as if I were to turn my ac off, while im on the highway, feel it click off then seconds later your used to it again. Fortunately I can take pictures of the gauges to show an a/f ratio or air intake temperature change, if there is one. I am also more interested to see if there is a fuel economy gain over a power gain. In my opinion based on the pictures I have seen it is one of the nicer looking intakes. It also looks like it requires more assembly then the other intakes, but a nice video is available online showing the install. I would almost ignore the horsepower chart they have though it shows a 20 hp increase, on a 2011 GT with a stock pull of 300 hp. Which is the lowest pull ive seen of a 2011 5.0.
