Default Cat Deletes

Has anyone bought the cat delete pipes from American Muscle? How hard were they to put on? How high did it turn up the volume?

I have the BBK cat deletes matched with flowmaster outlaw catback. It probably doubled the volume. The cats are huge! I love cat deletes and it took me roughly 1.5 hours. Something you should be aware of; the passenger side cat's outside bolt will be a pain. We took out my battery and holder, used a 2.5 foot half inh extender with a swivel socket to get it off.

Let me know if this helps.

PS I welded my deletes in place for the time being. I will be getting custom flanges made for bolt on/off.

What Cat deletes are you after? You'll definitely love them. The installation is very easy and your car will be really loud. Mustangs without cat's sound awesome!

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

DO IT!! Just like slowbra I have the BBK Cat Deletes + BBK X-Pipe + FLowmaster Outlaws. It is LOUD! The sound is amazing, and less drone than when I just had the outlaw axlebacks.

I would recommend coupling the cat deletes with an X or H pipe. It will really wake up the sound and performance of your car. BBK and JBA sell modular type pipes with the cat delete and x or h pipe as separate pieces. They are the best bang for your buck.

Order these from Stage 3 Motorsports - http://www.stage3motorsports.com/pro...FYJqfgod2JAANw

Better price than AM (no surprise) - and you will always receive what you order from Stage 3.

They will certainly increase the LOUDNESS of your car but will seriously benefit from axleback exhaust too.

I took mine to a local muffler shop to loosen the passenger bolt. Take them a case of beer and save yourself frustration. I did the install myself other than that.

HAHA, shameless!

Also, I am not sure what you implied by "your car will seriously benefit from axleback exhaust", but just to be clear, it will not be a performance benefit. Axlebacks are simply for sound on these cars. The cat delete with mid-pipe is where the restriction is and you will get some performance gains from those.

Yes - I was referencing the increased benefit of LOUDNESS.

You have a video of that set up? Cat deletes, x-pipe and the outlaw? I'd be interested to see how loud this would be to be honest, it sounds insanely loud just from the mods that you listed.

Thanks guys! I had off-road H pipe with slp loudmouths on my 06 GT and it was demonic...looking to go the same route because F@#K my neighbors. I will probably go with the cat deletes and h-pipe on this car. Any opinions on keeping the resonators on the car?

i've heard removing the resonators is ideal for quality sound and airflow. However, I'm still lost on what to do...

Here's a quick one. Check out my channel for more views and angles. This one was filmed with an iPhone 4S. No idea why the audio is so freaking good.

I finally found the video! A buddy of mine put this together and it came out great. Enjoy!

i just got my JBA H-Pipe w/ cat delete installed today. I already have the gt500 axel back.

I was very very scared that it would be ridiculously loud. here's my first day impressions:

1. It basically magnifies the sound of the gt500 axle backs.
2. There is no drone at cruising speeds, esp 6th. 6th gear is perfectly quiet.
3. It's louder. WHen you rev, its def louder, and the more throttle you put down, it def gets loud. It will turn a lot more heads, but in a good way. It sounds like a BEEFED UP version of the GT500 axleback
4. Going through tunnels, it is loud, but so beautiful.
5. with the windows down, it def gets a little loud, but with the windows up, i was able to hold conversations and not have to turn my music up.
6. The smell isnt that bad, in fact i barely ever smelled it IN the car. Just mostly if i walked around the car.
7. Idle is perfectly quiet, and smooth. Startup is a slightly louder, but goes away once rpms drop.

I put on the Bama cat delete and hpipe tune and man it's just so responsive. The throttle response is improved, and the whole tq curve seems much smoother and comes faster.

If you have the GT500 axle backs, i would recommend it, but beware it's a bit louder, but not inbearable. it's beautiful.

Is it a gassy smell or more like a lawnmower type smell?

It's a gassy smell with some vaporish hints... Hard to explain. Basically smells like an exhaust leak if you've ever had that. It's not the best but honestly isn't terrible either. And I barely ever smell it.
