Default whats the better deal? 2010 GT versus 2010 GT500

Which of these two cars would you say is the better buy? The big power and $45,000 price tag, or the $33,000 GT? (More drivetrain information here)

I think the GT500 is a better value. Sooner or later you'll be able to get a deal on them and the almost unlimited potential to mod that car is pretty solid.

Personally, I think both cars should be about $5k cheaper.

I'm tired of all the cars I like being 40k +.

Look at the SHO Taurus and you'll get what I mean.

i would say the GT500. i am actually pondering selling my car and getting the '10 GT500.

my wife actually suggested it to me. after i had my heart attack and fell into shock from her kindness, i've decided to consider selling my ride

Current 05-09 GTs are getting pretty damn cheap. However the GT500 not so much. Look at autotrader. It's pretty depressing for the most part. High 30's, low 40's, even on cars used with 3000 miles.

Well, considering the 2010 GT500 is pretty much the 2009 GT500KR with a different skin and a GT500 price tag, I'd go with the GT500 if you can afford it. Okay, so you don't get the carbon fiber stuff, but you get the upgraded tune, suspension, and rear end.

Alternatively, you might want to see what comes around for 2011 for engine options. There might be something middle of the road that you like better, dollar for power?

I love the GT500 for 2010..... I would paint any black plastic the body color as I think it look cheap...other then that I love it! (voted that way too)

I'm sorry, that GT500 @ $47,000 is far too expensive for what you get. I can buy a C6 Corvette for the same price and get a far superior platform to play with.

OR, I could buy a Camaro SS for $30,000 and have a 422hp LS3. Hmm. I think I'll save the $17k, invest about $8k into a supercharger and drivetrain upgrades, blow the GT500 away and then put the other $9k into savings so that when Obama's tax increases go into effect I have a buffer.

And the new Mustang GT? I think it's priced about right for what you get. I'm just not too impressed with what you get. I'd wait a year and see what the 2011 model brings. If it has a 400hp 5.0L V8 starting at $28k -- I think that's the sweet spot.

I'd wait to see what they come up with for 2011, hopefully the rumors are true and they give a little more HP for our buck.

Wait, wait, and more wait. That's what we Mustang GT fans have always done in the hopes Ford would come out with some huge HP bump. It has never happened. Probably never will. The most we can hope for (for those of us that like to go around corners) is that they will come out with an independent rear and a less 4x4-ish suspension height.

I agree completely. It's good to see that there are a few guys on the board that aren't so in love with their Mustang's that they can't recognize the value of certain other cars. I could live with a 300 or 315hp Mustang GT if it handled a little better from the factory and wasn't so stinkin' cheaply (poorly) constructed. Give the GT an IRS and direct injection and bump the fuel economy and power up by 10-12% without raising the price tag, and I think the Mustang would be a more competive car with the Charger and mythical new Camaro without having to run such a huge displacement motor.

If the GT and GT500 were my only choices, I think the GT500 is a better deal, but for $30k or $45k, I wouldn't buy either. There are better performing cars and platforms to build on in both price ranges.
