Default Did this come from my car?

First off I would like to say hello to everyone on these forums. I have a 2008 V6 mustang 4.0L and earlier tonight I felt a "clunk" towards the rear of my car. I was only going maybe 15 mph and parked to see if I had hit anything. When I looked back, I saw this object lying in the middle of the road. It was also fairly warm which made me think it was indeed, from car. I am not sure what it is, or even if it came from my car.

On the top of the piece, it says:
Ford 6R33-5F295-AA AHA

The metal part seems to have broken from another part, but I can not see from where exactly it may have come from. Standing, it is about 2.5in tall. I can try to describe it better if it would help. Thank you.
If anyone could identify this part, that would be great.

Hey Lyle, welcome to the forums. I don't recognize that part at all and a google search of the part number didn't help any. I would stop by the dealership ASAP and talk to them. Try not to drive the car too much before then to avoid any damage, every little part matters on these cars.

Counterweight that's welded to the exhaust to reduce drone. Have it welded back on or throw it away. Only used with the stock muffler.

Yep, there's one of those on the stock Y pipe, and one on the stock muffler.

It's for damping exhaust harmonics. No biggie if it's missing.

Thanks to everyone, I truly appreciate the input and help. As for my car, I think I will contact Ford and see if they can do anything about it.

That seems a little weird that it fell off an 08. I just changed my exhaust yesterday and they are very solid on my exhaust. I have an 06. Have you kit some road debrit recently or something that could have broken the welds?? If I were you I would look under there very closely for any other damage.

Good luck with it.

Default you not alone

Lyle,

I can quote you word for word, when I read this I thought I wrote it my self. My mustang only has 28,000 miles, it was funny that it fell off on a quite road and I was only going 15. I went back and got it my wife said it was to hot not to have come of the car. It sure made a lot of noise falling off. I'm going to call ford tomorrow and have it replaced.

Thanks great post.

Yep, looks like the OE muffler counterweight. Useless. I wouldn't bother having it replaced. Toss it or be ****.
