I'm currently running the edelbrock 1806 (which is the electric choke version), but otherwise same model.
You will probably need to jet that thing down a lot. I had to. so make sure you buy the tuning kit for that carb as well Edelbrock part 1840. and you might even need to add another rod or two.
from what was said above I absolutely loved those autolites. so a cheap rebuilt 480cfm will do fine. As well I hear when on budget those new summit carbs 600cfm are said to be great value for money.

the edelbrock will have less hassle in the long run once tuned right and are nice fro street driven cars. the metering rod tuning is a bit more intuitive (to me at least) then the holley. but it's a matter of tatse. noone can deny the advantage of the edelbrock that there's no gaskets at fuel level and a proper functioning spread bore.
