Default OOPS! Put in 5W-30 instead of 5W-20

Stupid me. I thought it was 5W-30. Well, I changed my oil and used Mobil-1 5W-30. I should have used 5W-20. I called Ford and they said unless I was going on a long trip, it should be no problem. I have always used Mobil-1.

Opinions? Should I drain it and put in 20 weight? I don't live in a overly hot climate, 25 Celsius, so I don't think it should be a big deal.

you will be perfectly fine. 5w30 is what i use. my GT likes it better than the 5w20. i was getting some blowby with the 5w20 mobil1 until i switched to 5w30 mobil1. now no blowby. it runs perfect. i wont change back.

It's not gonna hurt anything to run 5W30 though technically it doesn't meet the warranty requirements.

You should be fine. In the very warm climates like Hawaii I'd probably run the 5W-30 as well but in Alberta I would stick with the 5W-20 as my full time oil.

+1 on being ok. There are quite a few GT owners here that use 5W30 instead of 5W20.

If you're really **** about your car like I am you could always drain, the refill. But it will cost you extra $. Your car will run fine with the 5w30. Just becareful about labels in the future!

I've been running 5w-30 for MANY thousands of miles now. It's all good. I got it b/c here in Tx it gets a little warmer than it does in Detroit.

What is it about 5w-20 that satisfies CAFE shenanigans?
