Default Is it normal for headers to glow red hot?

Well I know my car is running like ****, back firing and sputtering, But I have no way else to get to work, anyways I was driving back home my work is 8 miles away, and I wanted to look inside the engine to see if eveything is looking ok, because Yesterday I found out one of my plug wires was melted from being too close to the header and was arcing the spark which can be seen very clearly at night.

Well I opened the hood tonight to see if I fixed the problem which I did but I noticed that my headers were glowing red, I never really noticed it before, Is this a normal thing? Is it because my Aluminum heads?

Thanks.

I havnt checked. The numbers on the Damper are worn to ****. What should I put the timing at? And whats a good fuel pressure to run? I cant wait for tomarrow. Its pay day! Soo ill be getting the Regulator and Code reader, also all the MaF stuff I need.

Also schwindty I found this site Where I can get some of the MaF stuff for kinda cheap, Check out the MAF harness 12 bucks.

For the MAF conversion you need the male end pins, get like 10 of them in case you break or mess a few up. That harness is just what you need as well. For the instructions that gets the main things done, but they didnt include the Vehicle Speed sensor wiring or the fuel pump relay..... I would toss them out and use the ones I had, they are for early model years.

For Fuel Pressure it all depends on how much timing you can run on pump gas...or premium if you use it

For what you have right now with no pres reg with regular gas I would go no more than 13 Degrees if that until you can tune it right....I wouldnt be driving it running that lean!

I would get that neighbors timing lits and re set it back to about 10-12 for the time being that will help some for sure..... I used some varsol on the balancer cleaned it up and marked with white out where I wanted the timing to be.... you will se like 10 all the way to 0 then 0 to 20 you want it set to the 10-12 mark ATDC Do you remember what he set it at?
