Unhappy Avic-f700bt help please

I got my Avic f700bt installed into my 2007 with the shaker 500. I forgot to tell him about the pop when the speakers came on so he said if i find a way to fix it he would. I decided to do it myself because im at college and it would be hard to get back just to let him do it. Anyways i put a voltage regulator the same one in the d-3 install sticky and it didnt work. My roommate is an electrical engineer and he help but it still doesnt work I dont know what to do any suggestions. I double checked everything and it all seemed right. The unit still works it just still pops. Any suggestions would be extremly appriciated. I am really frusturated. Thanks CJ

try putting a 1.5K resistor in the remote turn on. Just cut the wire and put one side of the wire to one side of the resistor and then connect the other wire to the other side, you can't do it wrong.

that is a voltage regulator and a little more complex way of doing the same job. The voltage regulator when hooked up right will keep 5v across the designated terminals. A resistor will burn the additional 6-7v off that is not needed and allow the amplifiers to see the 5v that they want. The resistor can't be hooked up wrong unlike the regulator is the biggest difference.

How do you protect the resistor, heat shrink? Will the resistor get warm?

heat shrink would be perfect. It will not get warm enough to be a problem. Any resistor will develope heat but in this case it is a low current/power so it is not a big deal.
