Default My 1968 resurrection thread

I will be updating this thread as the real work begins in a couple of months.

Today i pretty much stripped out 90% of the interior and 40% of the old spliced wiring. I know now i will need drivers and passanger full length floor pans, lower firewall panels, lower trunk panels, lower quarter panels, battery apron, part of the passanger side inner floor support,passanger side torque box and maybe the rear part of the front frame rail. I might as well figure in the cowl also. So according to Virgina Classic Mustang im looking at about 700.00 in parts. Enough chat lets see some rot!!!!

Thanks, im sure youll have some fun with the 65. The floor,firewall and frame will be addressed sometime in the middle of February. Im hoping to have it ready for paint by next fall.

I brought back a 2004R in the back seat of my 98 Formula, those cars will do anything man! Hows the progress on the stang?

LOL Ive got the back seat of the Mustang in the back seat of the Firebird right now, later it will be hauling both front seats. Im going out today to take out the headliner, the heater cardboard box and the rest of the wiring. Its too wet to get under the car and start removing the gas lines. I am going to try and get an price on the repairs next week. Im betting ive got 4000.00 in labor there + another 1000.00 in parts.

Not much Progress to report, I have found a very good person that restores cars on the side to do all of my metal work. He is a metal worker by trade and right now works as a tool and die maker at a machine shop. He normally does frame of restos of alot of 50's-70's GM cars from start to finish. His work is top notch!! I have a set price of 5400.00 for the replacement of both the front frame rails, torque boxes, inner frame supports, driver and passanger floor pans, lower firewall, cowl panel, inner wheelhouse patch, hole in the battery tray and inner fender aprons, also hes sandblasting the engine bay, under side of the car, inside the car, door jambs, dash and trunk+ do all the needed sealing and priming needed to keep it from ever rusting again!!! Hes going to get started late springtime, ive got about 900.00 in parts to get buying in January!!! woohooo..........

Hes also given me a quote of 3500.00 for all the body work and paint and that includes the stripping of the body. Ive got very lucky to find this guy.

That looks like quite a project. I'm glad to see your saving it. That funny that someone used a stop sign to fix the floor.
