What do the bears eat the most of up there? I dont know what grows easily. I bet some cattails would grow if you had enough water for them.. and they werent eaten... Just thinking you could make your own fuel pretty easy.

Will we have a video of the first fire and more pics? I sure hope so, need the motivation this week!

They eat Timothy Treadwell and moose.

There's more water up here than anywhere else. Millions of lakes and ponds. Maybe it's too cold for them.

You can make fuel from them suckers?

The engine and trans is in. As a matter of fact, only thing left to do is radiator, new oil and filter, the Hurst shifter, and a little wiring. It went in so easy I couldn't believe it. I have to break the clutch in for 500 miles

Tim Treadwell.. rofl..

Oh yes you can make fuel from cattails, 1000 gallons an acre is easy to do, and much much more if they are fed waste water from a sewer plant. 10,000 gallons/acre is not unlikely with high nitrate sewage water flowing past them.. Also anything with sugar or starch in it, maple tree sap, berries, honey, potatoes, beets, all sorts of stuff. How much fuel you get depends on how much sugar is in it. Look around and see what you have, I know farming isnt big there, and it isnt where I live either. I could send you a few million cattail seeds if you like. They have 30,000+ to a pod.

Best part is, all it would take is some carb mods for you to run the stuff. Blower engines love the alky, they run cooler and can take lots more boost and timing. If you are making it for $1 or less per gallon you could afford to drive the Mustang quite a bit. My LS1 is running 50% ethanol right now and it is a monster on the stuff. It will break the 285 45 17 Goodyears loose at 35mph when you kick it down, and it has 2.73 gears under it. On 93 it wont even spin the tires, but with some alky in it the whole persona of the car changes. Tuning is easier too since the power doesnt drop off nearly as much when you run rich, all you do is burn more fuel and make lots of power.

I figure if you can make the stuff yourself then it leaves hard earned cash for other things.

Get a video of it soon man! You are working pretty fast. I want a blown 347 now... its all your fault.

She's all done except a small oil leak. I had to pull the water pump and bottom pulleys/balancer off after a test drive. It appears oil is leaking out between the crank snout and Jesel crank pulley. A splash shield did not come with the Jesel belt drive so I'm thinking a bead of RTV on the end of the balancer might do it.
I did take her for about a two mile cruise. The hydraulic throwout bearing is stiff but works great. I took the power steering off as well. So between the two, my wife will never be able to drive it now :-) . I thought my car was bad *** before. My old engine couldn't hold a candle to this torque monster. I have to break in the clutch for 500 miles so I really can't push it too hard. I can tell you it accelerates hard in all gears. I hope to have her all together tomorrow night. No videos as of yet since the oil leak was unforeseen and we tore it down after the brief test drive.

Did you have the block line bored? It can make the front cover leak because the crank is higher in the hole than it should be. I have that problem on one of my engines that someone else built. Man I wish I could ride in that thing..

Yes I did. On GM's I heard you can open the dowel pin holes a little and let the cover center itself when you slide the balancer on. I got mine to stop. Took it for longer cruise tonight and no oil. What a relief!
