Road Trip....sort of
If you count 100 miles as a road trip. It's the farthest I've driven since I put the Mustang back together. It really never ran well since I got it, but it had only been driven maybe 10,000 miles in the previous 20 years. I finally had the carburator replaced with a period correct rebuilt and it seemed to do better for a while (the old carb was really shot) but would bog down over 45 MPH. Finally traced it to a fuel pump putting out half the pressure it should. She did fine tonight at 70 MPH. Noisy as all Hell though. Might be time for some insulation.

Way to go honey...I mean HGC. Was that 100 miles out or round trip? I know that first long trip is a nervous one, just waiting for something to go wrong but, hoping it don't. Insulation will make a big difference but, it still won't be like a new one. That's just part of driving these old machines. I drive mine 50 miles every day and would like some more insulation...maybe in the doors and stuff.
Enjoy the ride.

Thats cool. I'm glad you let her stretch her legs.
When you say noisy, what do you mean, road noise, wind noise etc. I know its not exhaust noise, since you have stock type exhaust right? Mine is a little noisy, but I like it because thats how classics are supposed to be.
Something you could consider getting, is the OE type trunk insulation, if you don't already have it. Its one peice on top of the gas tank and on piece between that an the back seat, it goes over top of the rear axle.
If you don't already have it, then get the underlayment for under the carpet.

Well, as far as the stereo goes...being an original this one has the factory AM only. It's road noise mostly. The carpet is just sitting on top of the floor pans. The original sound insulation was that heavy cardboard plastic type stuff and it was too stuck down to save. I'll probably buy some better insulation and do the whole thing this winter. I remember seeing a pic of 4reboy's Mach interior after he put in all the insulation. I won't do the headliner, but probably the floors and sides.
I suppose too, the fact the trunk drop offs are open (not patched yet) may have something to do with it
