Default Finally got another mustang!!!!

I just got another mustang to sink money into. I have been searching everywhere for a 71-73 mustang fastback or 69 torino fastback that was pretty much untouched. I wanted to start from the ground up so i would know what is in the car. I found a 69 torino cobra 428cj locally and i spent six months talking with the old woman who let it set in a field since 1972. Well a month ago she sold it out from under me after telling me it was mine as soon as she figured out how much money she wanted for it. I then found this 71 mustang fastback (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT) I won the auction and drove 7 hrs to pick up the stang. When I arrived I looked the car over and checked the vin. To my surprise it started with a 2. I gave the guy a sob story about it not being a 71 and my plans of a 429cj clone. (I'll still clone the 72, I just wanted him to think I was really upset) We ended up negotiating on the price of the car. This resulted in me having $1375(my original winning bid on ebay) pay for my car, gas, food and hotel for the whole trip.

So the spending begins.....

Hey Peace,

Way to go! Another one saved! Are you going to keep it in Mach trim? How about motor/trans? What is your timeline; short term or long term project?

GT350R, Yes I am going to keep the mach trim, but I will go yellow and black. I am planning on a 429 with a newer 5 speed. It will be a long term project, I can only spare about 4k a year.

No it does not have the console or the three gauges. I just starting getting my parts catalogs in yesterday. Cj pony parts was the first one.

It is hard to wait for nice weather so I can build a shop!!!! This time of year my driveway can not handle a cement truck.

Ohiomustang has the most parts for the 71-73 in one spot everyone else cares some here and there.A console is not hard to add if you want one.If you need help finding parts or ideas let me know good luck with it.

Welcome to the club. I would have sold you my 71, but it has been touched a bit too much. Also you got more car for less money than I would have to have to even come close to breaking even. Looks pretty decent, shouldnt be a rust bucket like mine is so you could possibly get it done in a couple years if you have $4k each year to spend on it, as long as you are frugal with the 429 and 5 speed stuff. Will be watching your progress...

LOL frugal!?!?! I was being frugal until I found the Kaase Boss Nine heads. Looks like I will have to update my budget a little bit. My wife is going to kill me.

My First car was a 78 King Cobra back in 97. when you compare finding parts for the 72 to the 78, it almost feels to easy.
