Hi to All

I have a 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible I am trying to restore. It was my father-in laws car that was torn down to the frame and partial restoration started. It sat for 18 years and now I have it and hundreds of parts and I am now trying to put it all together. I have a rebuilt 289 engine and a Ford tansmittion with the following numbers in the castin. RF_E3SP-7006 on the driver side of the case and RF-EOAP - 7A040-BD on the rear of the trans.

As best I can tell this is a 1983 automatic overdrive trans for a Thunderbird.
It looks brand new but my guess is it is a rebuild. Does anyone know if this trans can be used in my 1964 1/2 Mustang?

If its a aod it can be used with a special trans crossmember that every mustang part house sells.Easy way to tell is look at the trans pan does it say metric if so its a aod if not its c5 and i wouldn't use a c5 its a c4 with some upgrades but kinda was crap.

On the pan it has Automatic Overdrive Metric - so this is a AOD - will it mate with the 289 engine and still fit in the Mustang? Understand I will need a special trans crossmember. Would apprieciate any specific info on this special crossmember.
