six speed auto for 67 mustang?
Had this car sitting outside for a while and just started working on it.. Needs new floor pans, frame rails, rear fenders ect... doing the bodywork now! but my question is
Are there any 6 speed transmissions via an adapter and whatever else needed that will mount.. and work with a 289 (stock block, 350 - 450 HP) 67 mustang? If not any ideas on some 5 speed auto's?

ill probably end up with the 5 speed.. never heard of anyone with a 6 speed automatic in a classic mustang.. probably for a reason.. I would REALLY like a 5 speed over an AOD so any 5 speeds that can easily adapt?

Not as far as I know. Most 5sp automatics are well into the computer-controlled era of transmissions, which makes life a lot more complicated when trying to adapt them to something older.
Why do you even want a 5sp auto? The reason AOD conversions are so common is because they work.

The newer auto trans are big too it might not fit the trans tunnel. With that much power and torque it will take a beefed up t5 to the gills or a t56 maybe tko.A ford racing t5z is only rated to like 350hp but there is a few aftermarket companies that beef up the t5.Do you have a 9 inch rear end for it and sub frame connectors? If not those would be high on my list with that much power.

I'm just curious as to what you've done to the motor to get 350-400 horse out of it with the stock heads... do you have a 100 shot on there, supercharged, or anything? I have a worked 306 in my 65 with trick flow heads, larger cam, aluminum intake, Holley 650 Carb, and a complete msd ignition system and I'm hopingto put out over 350 at the wheels once I get my 9 inch rear in there with some 3.50 gears.

I think TCP made a 6spd auto transmission for hipo cars and they may have one for the classic mustangs. But i think they cost around $6k. Im having a 351 stroker built right now and I have a C4, Id like to find a 5spd auto so I can get better mpg on the highway. I dont care about low gears and street driving. Im looking for a highway driver.
