Default Edelbrock 1407 stumbles from a stop to go???

I just took apart my Edelbrock 1407 750cfm and soaked all the parts in cleaner, scrubbed to bowls and parts and I found this little piece and couldn't find were it went? So, I did some research and found out it's the fuel weight that goes below the front jets, so I put it back. Now, at a complete stop, any gas given will make the car stumble and pretty much die, but it comes back to an idle instead of dying all the way. I have to reall feather it to get going, but once it's going, it's pissed off fast! Does it sound like it's too rich? Maybe to much fuel? Or do you think it's that little weight? Idler screws? I'm not good with carbs, so I would appriciate some advice before I start messing with things...

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Lively group I see...I found the problem, the fuel weight didn't have the small ball under it. Unfortunatly, the screw snapped off inside the threads and everything went downhill from there. I put all the 1407 guts into my 1806 and it actually runs pretty good...So anyone who reads this and can't provide a suggestion because they don't know?? Well, now you know in case this happens to you!!
