engine swap questions (pix inside)

Well, I must have done something right about the serpentine belt. My question was, what if I decided to go with a V-belt set up? and no, i have not purchase the radiator yet, at this point I am having a hard time justifying the price between the driver side and passenger side lower hose output. Why does the price have to double if the lower hose is on the driver side.

If you change it over to a v belt then you need a cw water pump but small block water pumps are cheap.I found this part http://www.ronmorrisperformance.com/...ode=Spec_Parts its 125 bucks but lets you use a factory radiator but i think you have to use a electric fan with it.Or if you can make that pipe or something close to it.

when i did the swap i ran into some pulley issues because i didnt use the A/C, P/S or smog. after a while i was able to set up a couple idler pulleys to remedy the problem, heres a couple pictures.
i was having a very hard time finding the proper length serpentine belt but if you notice theres a pulley on the top right (it has a replaceable bearing in it), and another pulley for tension on the bottom left. it runs great with them on it.
also id recomend getting rid of the old mustang stock voltage regulator and getting the fox body alternator that has it internally.
i know my engine bay is a mess =/ the car isnt running right now but it will be soon.

oh and as for the radiator situation, just take your current radiator to a radiator shop and have them move the spout thats on your bottom tank to the other side. much cheaper than buying a whole new radiator.

Thanks for the tensioner pix(are you trying to say my set-up isnt going to work?) I dont think the I6 radiator will be sufficient enough for the 302. I just have to fork out the money to buy the right radiator.

im not saying your belt setup wont work, i was just sharing the problems i ran into in hopes it will help out in some way. personally i wanted to get the belt to go around the water pump as much as i could, maybe its a bit overkill but it makes me feel better

***New question***
Can I use the wire powering the coil pack from the distributor to power my HEI distributor?
Thanks for the help as always,

I'm running a very similar setup. Just water pump and alternator. for Serpentine, I tried the tensioner pulley method but it would always squawl really loud on start up or whenever there was an alternator load. I ended up having to install a stationary idler pulley off to the side where the A/C compressor mounts.
