Default 68 FB GT Rust Bucket

Just purchased a 68 FB GT. It's been sitting outside for the past 20 years and is in pretty bad shape. Just trying to get the thing home has been the biggest challenge. I was finally able to dig it out of the ground and pull the wheels off. Needless to say all four drum brakes are completely rusted and locked up. Any good ideas on how to free the brakes up so that I can get it on a trailer?

You may have to just drag it on with a winch.

I have seen old rust buckets actually split almost half in two winching it out of the mud.

If you whack the hell out of the drums with a hammer to loosen them up can you remove the drums altogether?

Would not do any good if the axle is seized up though. Not sure if it is but I would put money on it.

i found what looked to be a real nice 67 last fall and when i went to pick it up everything under the sheet metal was gone i didnt even try to move it thinking it would just pull apart with that said you should be able to bust the drums off with a sledge or for a few hudred you could build a cart with big rubber casters from HF put the car on it and winch it onto a trailer

Its sitting on jack stands now. I brought the wheels home with me to change out the tires. If I cant bust the drums loose or off I'm thinking over inflated tires, greased up trailer decking and winch it on there. I will add some pics as soon as I figure out how.

Photobucked.com is free to host images and once you upload an image they give you the html code to drop it in a forum post.
