finally got a classic mustang...frame rail questions
Well guys,
After looking for a couple of months I'm finally in the process of purchasing a 65 Mustang coupe, 289, 3spd. I got it for a little over $2k, but it does have its fair share of problems.
Both the front/rear passenger frame rails are rusted severly. The drivers side front frame rail has about a 1" hole in it, but is solid other than that. The driver's side rear has a lot of surface rust, but appears solid.
How difficult is it to repair the frame rails? What if there is nothing sturdy enough on the passengers side to attach a replacement peice to? Does anyone make a complete front/rear frame rail to replace the rusted out ones?
The driver's side trunk pan is also rusted a bit?
Also, the seller said that the engine has a little smoke coming from the passenger side. He said he thought it was either a bad valve or head gasket. Is there anything else that this could be?
How much do you think it will cost to repair the three frame rails: pass front/rear and drivers front?
Thanks,
Kris

Is it possible to totally replace the rails? What all is involved in the process if it is possible?
About how much would it cost?
