Yeah,
Ford Taurus, and J car doesn't have enough rack movement.
I've got a modified J car rack in my car. It's a kit produced by Randall's Rack. Great guy, quality piece, decent price. Without finding the perfect rack and building the whole thing yourself, (IMO) this is about as good as it gets.
I do think there is a rack & pinion out there, I just haven't made time to go find it. But as popular as this swap is becoming I may make the time. Because someone is going to make some good money with the right rack packaged correctly.
Good luck,

I haven't heard of anyone going to a junkyard and finding a rack that just bolts up to a 60's mustang.
as far as i know you need a custom cradle to bolt it to .
I have a total control products on mine. it's integral to it's mounting bar.
someday, i'll have it on the road and i can give some feedback on how it does

Go get a pinto or a late 70s mustang rack and pinion from a mustang II, i herad theyre very good and easily modify-able. or you can look up Chris Altons Chassis Works, they have alot of suspension set ups and i actually use thier rearend 4 link system, theyre very nice people and they helped me through alot. heres the site http://www.cachassisworks.com/Home.html

I have a Tarus rack and Pinion on my '67 and I love it. It has a good feel. It's power but not "floaty" like a Cadillac. They guy who did the work made a fabricated bracket to make it work. Not sure what year the part is however.
