Going to do my first oil change-I bought a fram filter-what weight oil and how much (quarts) for a 1966 289 v8?
Thanks Scott

Your engine is going to need 5 quarts of oil with a filter change. My suggestion is that you buy a Motorcraft filter and five quarts of the cheapest dinosaur 10/40 engine oil you can buy. Wal-Mart is a good source for that oil and filter.

lose the fram filter, notorious for poor quality. I like K & N personally. Some will argue that Synthetic Oil is the best....just remember this does not ring true with older cars as this can cause leaking at clogged seals once unclogged.

But it's great in old cars with NEW engines

Purolator makes the Motocraft filters. Napa brand filters are wix filters. Agree with the synthetic oil.

I ran synthetic in my car for about 200 miles, found leaks that were never leaking before. Now im changing back to conventional 30. Do you think this is going to cause any probs? What about the leaking, you think it will slow?

You're not supposed to switch back to reg. oil after you've ran synthetic. Where are your leaks coming from? simple fixes or are we talkin like main seal leaks and what not?
