Trunk Lock Cylinder Installation
Hello,
I was wondering if there is a trick to installing the trunk lock cylinder into the trunk lock housing on my "66 coupe.I just purchased the parts new,and I don't want to damage them being that this is my first time doing this.Any tips?

RE: Trunk Lock Cylinder Installation
Installation is pretty straight forward (assuming you have instructions). Basically if you got the old one out, the new one goes in just reverse. If you don't have instructions, ask again and I will type them out for you.

Thanks for replying. The trunk had no lock on it when I bought the car,so I've never taken one apart, and there were no instructions with the parts,so I'm a little lost.I'd appreciate it if you could walk me through it.Thanks!

Here are a couple of pics of mine to show you how it goes together.

RE: Trunk Lock Cylinder Installation
The attached picture should help with the parts location. Basically, mount all the pieces for the lock mechanism (but not the lock cylinder and lock extension) as shown. Once these are in place slide the lock extensioninto the Lock Cylinder Sleeve. When it is all the way in it will slide into the grove on the lock assembly (inside). Put the oring on the Lock cylinder and put the key in the lock cylinder. Turn the key 1/8 turn from the locked position - it's probably like this from the parts place unless you have been playing with it. Push it in until it is in place then just rotate the key back to the locked position. This 1/8 turn aligns a pin at the opposite end of the lock cylinder with a groove that allows it to turn for extraction. I have found that sometimes the alignment is very finicky so you just have to turn and pull (for removal) at the same time, jiggling a little until it comes out. If you were removing an old lock cylinder, a little WD-40 or equivilent helps.
