Back to original radio
I put in an aftermarket AM/FM stereo cassette radio, and it sounded like crap. I had two 6X9 speakers in the rear, and the dual cone speaker on top of the dash. Someone gave me an original AM radio they had stored in a barn for many years, and the push buttons didn't work, nor did the dial. Well, I took it apart, and sprayed a lot of silicone spray to all the mechanical mechanisms, and got the buttons to be able to change channels, as well as the right dial. I stuck her in the 65, and she works on all channels. Rush Limbaugh, here we come.

RE: Back to original radio
I had the aftermarket and dumped it for Secret Audio. Best thing I have ever, ever done. Totally hidden, head unit hidden under the dash using existing screws, and a nifty remote that works most of the time.
I much prefer the look of my original radio.

RE: Back to original radio
NPD has a reproduction of the original AM/FM radio ( I think it is made by Custom Audio). It has an Aux input, 4 preamp outs, control for a CD changer, and either bass and treble or just treble (I can't remember). Looks excellent. It's still a rotory dial and push buttons, so FM reception isn't going to be much better than an early 80's radio. I'm seriously considering this as it looks really original, and will allow plugging in the Sirius receiver and a bunch of amps.
