Carb upgrade

RE: Carb upgrade
A cam swap is not that hard, I would suggest getting a service manual for the car. One of the problems with those older 302's is that the heads don't flow very well, the cam will help that, but don't go too big. I think doing all the mods above and the cam swap you will be near your hp goal.

RE: Carb upgrade
alright well when i return to the mechanic i will defintly mention this stuff. What kind of cam should i look for. It needs to obviously be street legal, good on emissions and dont waste to much gas. Thanks once again JD you've been alot of help.

RE: Carb upgrade
well on this car emission don't apply..I would go with a daul pattern cam..but the cam depends on your convertor if you use stock covertor then something in the 480 lift range and dur something like 215-220 @ 50 or with a 2200-2500 rpm convertoe than something like 485-510 dur 222/234...this will keep your vacuum up..putting in a shift kit and 3.73 gears will really wake that lil car up...and gas mileage will be about the same....I would go for a dist. upgrade and do away with points...a good set of low ohms plug wires and the msd and a hotter coil will help.....I do agree with that demon as thier our great carbs out the box and have alot of room to play with..going with the ole long tubes and a 2.5" exhuast will help....
