Default Will 429CJ fit in 68 stang?

Can anybody tell me whether or not a 1970 429CJ will fit in a 68 Mustang? I do not want to do any cutting or major structural changes to the car.

Thanks

Well...first

Ford never made anything called a 429cj

There was
the 429
boss 429
428
428 cj

and a bunch of other motors

The only one above that I don't know if it fits as a bolt in is the Boss 429, but it prob. does

Beg your pardon dodgestang, but the 1970 Torino was available with a 429 in ThunderJet, Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet configurations.

my bro inlaws got a 71 mustang conv, its a factory 429, i** belive** it does say C/J on the air cleaner . ** i must see it again to be sure** it says 429 RAM AIR on the hood strips. just the shock tower are welded on the big block cars. so the tq wont pull it apart.

The 429 CJ was available in the 1971 Mustang. These engines were Ford's 385 series engines and were substantially larger than the FE series 428 CJ offered between 1968 1/2 and 1970, which in itself was a very tight squeeze. It's possible you are calling the 428 CJ a 429 CJ by mistake, as the 1970 Mustang never came with the 429 CJ. I don't believe you will be able to shoehorn it in without modifying the shock towers.

It will fit nicely in my 71... Wanna trade for a nice 302?

429CJ and SCJ could be had in the Tbird and even the fullsize LTD.. Kinda strange but hey they would sure pull a boat. First SGJ I ever saw was stuffed in an LTD.. I really shoulda bought it..

Don't know. But I damn sure wouldn't pay that much for it when I can find a nicely restored one for 18-25K with a 351 in it.
