Default 69 mach1 upper trunk panel question

Hi. I'm replacing the panel that's between the rear window and the deck lid. My car had some horrible repairs before I got it so I don't really know what to go off of in regards to how the panel is really supposed to fit. My question is about the sides of that panel where it meets the quarter panels. I can't figure out how the panels fit together to keep rain out. The last owner had loads of filler everywhere to fill the gaps but I'm sure Ford had a much better way of doing it. Once again this is the wide narrow panel that sits just under the rear window and is also the upper opening of the trunk. It joins the quarter panels at the sides. That is where I can't figure it out. I wish I had a picture. Sorry.

thanks for the pics. Any chance of getting a close up of the area in question? It would really help me.

Sure, I can snap some pics tomorrow. I'll get some close-ups of each corner inside and out.

Thanks. Here is what I'm dealing with. Notice how on the quarter panel side it's lacking any kind of metal in excess of the outer skin to weld the rear cowl panel.

rhill-

I believe this picture is what you are looking for. It's not pretty, it is just a regular body line. FYI, this is also a 1969 Mach 1.

Let me know if you need me to take any other pictures.

Thanks. Do you know if there is filler between the rear cowl panel and the rear quarter. When I try fitting the panels together, I don't see anyway to keep the rain out unless I use filler.

also, my replacement rear cowl panel doesn't get near as tight of a fit as you've got next to the quarter panel.
