1969 Shelby production yielded 2624 sportsroofs and 529 convertibles. A little more than 10%, but certainly not a dime-a-dozen.
"Oddly, there are conflicts in the old paperwork regarding the total number of 1969-1970 Shelbys produced. The official Ford tally, based on a document from 1969, is 3,153 units. But the Shelby American Automobile Club, based on serial numbers observed, holds that as many as 3,294 were made. Either way, looking back, the numbers indicate a reasonably successful swan song sales record."

"one of the 335 convertibles out of total 1969-1970 production,"

So, I saw 335 convertibles and saw a total of 3300 Shelbys made, hence my 10% figure.

You ought to latch on to that '57 Chevy if the guy is selling at a decent price. That is most likely the first thing most folks think of when mentioning "Classic" cars. Especially if it is a Belair with the 283 engine.

Actually all 70 Shelbys started life as 69's, there were unsold 69's left over so they were revinned and sold as 70's.

Right, 800 of them were left over and were redone with the FBI watching over the procedure (according to what I learned today)

I only buy rust-free cars, and that one has been sitting out in the yard, uncovered, for well over a year that I know of. Between the snow and rain, it has to be a real mess, never mind the cows and goats and other animals roaming around there

Ah, where is your spirit of adventure? That 57 would be worth a gazillion if it was restored to original condition.

I'd be a wreck before, during and after - I know what I went through with the Mustang and what I'm now going through with the goat and the other one I'm buying.

I'd be too far gone to enjoy it after restoration

((I did look at a '55 Chevy -- locally -- as that is what I want someday but cars from this area are full of rust from the salt on the road)

Ah, I see the 150 difference -- I was looking at GT350 only. I only showed where I got my info so you'd not think I pulled it out of my uhm hat.

(Interesting to learn about the 800 leftover 1969 models, the FBI intervening, etc)
