Default removing

so i've removed the old vinyl top on my 67, and im lookin to get the excess glue off and then paint it instead of messing with another vinyl. what should i use for a primer, a freind of mine mentioned POR15, whats that? is that what i need?

www.por15.com por15 must be topcoated or it will discolor request there book lots of neat stuff in there

I just want to know an easier way to get all the glue and crap off. my DA is workin overtime and I am rippin through sanding discs so fast i think the floor is covered with them now.. Too cold for chem strip now.. and I know you are gonna ask later cnig, so what has anyone used to get all that residue off?

no i ask a wile back about vinyl tops and they all said that removing it with chem. takes just as long as sanding and if you are going to repeat it any way might as well sand it. and like you said it is to cold to use it any way so sand away

I am removing the vinly on my 67 Coupe as well, Can I use POR 15 on the roof than install new vinly over it . Will this work OK.

Watch out for heat when sanding. Don't sand in one spot for to long.

ya you can use POR15 then put a vinyl top back over it. i don't think you will need to put a top coat knowing that it will be covered with the vinyl.

Wouldnt the easiest way be a sander? Sand it down smooth and prime it?

the por 15 wont lose it proerties by being exposed to the sun but it will change colors to somehting that wont look good it will be fine to por15 then cover with the vinyl

but if you don't cover it up what the what is the best top coat. i saw that there is a 2 part top coat and a 1 part top coat (for one part I'm guessing the blackcote)
