Default if you have put your car on a trailor Read This Please!

I work for a company with lots of utility trailors around. Im about to buy a wrecked 16ft for my Restoration job and to have for other stuff as well. For 50$ im getting a bent up(minor) trailor with broke axles. I need to replace axles. My Question finally...........

What weight axles should i buy to haul around the stang. 2000lbs, 3000lbs. What if i want to haul other stuff? before i buy the axles and install them some trial error would be nice.. do you wish you had stronger axles on yours, Why? Comment please, and Thanks in advance. MC

I'd call up U-Haul and find out how thier full car trailers are rated wieght wise on the axels and that should give you a rough estimate. Sorry I can't be any more help.

if your not going to carry anthing heavier that your car a set of 3500 lb axles would be plenty heavy enough and give a little more peace of mind! they sell smaller sets but theres not enough price difference to use the underated axles. but see what type it has under it now! because if the axle hangers are still good and the axles are heavy enough,go with the same axle! because the hangers can cost allmost as much as the axles!

seems like if its a 2 axle trailer youd need 3000 axels at most. because the weight would be spread between them.

+1

what are your legal limits for weight on a trailer like that behind whatever you are going to use to tow it?
3000lb axles would be plenty, but having brakes on a car trailer is paramount.
