Well... in a sorta bare metal way its looking nice. I need to get some stuff done on the Cougar before I can work on the Mustang again. I want the Cougar driveable first..lol. I need my precious back, 20 years is too long to not drive a 67. Here is an overview of the progress I made..

There was a nasty dent on the drivers door and quarter panel. I got the quarter patched, still planning out the door. Thats what the pics of the dent are about. It was filled with 2" of bondo and had holes punched around it for a dent puller. Very amature attempt at a repair. Right after I hit post, I will be headed out to make the front end semiglosss black since its warm enough today to spray some paint. then I can begin the suspension rebuild after the first of the month. Gotta wait for the check..lol.

I can see light at the end of the tunnel on this one. But putting it all back in will be a challenge all its own.. at least there isnt much rust on it..

Wow, it's looking real good! Are you going back to red? Red with a black vinyl roof would look so sweet!
I really liked the Cougar, great lines and a stunning front grill.
What are you doing for suspension? Have you looked at Opentracker's web page? He takes stock components and reworks them. He also has complete instructions on how to do the same thing yourself. Great mods for dirt cheap. You've obviously got the talent, and the time.

Look forward to seeing more progress.

back to red, and losing the vinyl. I liked it, but its not going back on at this point. I am doing everything but the engine machine work myself, so the roof is out..lol.

I have to change the LCA because mine has a different strutrod setup and I cant get the bushing for it. So I need to get Mustang style LCAs/struts, and then may as well get them with balljoints. Doin the Shelby drop and probably drop springs, 1 1/8" swaybar front and a 7/8" rear. Keeping the 3.00 gears in the 8" rear but adding a locking diff. Cleveland and an AOD at a later date will be a nice runnin machine. Gonna be more mod than resto, its going to be built the way I always wanted it. Power, handling, in a sweet ride. Sorta like a classic version of my 98 Formula but with no cruise, ac, power anything, and in a Mercury body..lol.. a sweet driver for the short summers up here.

Definitely go to Opentrackers site and look through the technical stuff. You could build a sweet front end pretty cheap. Not sure if it's on his sight, but you can make your own strut rods as well.
Nice thing about a vinyle roof... you can add it any time you want.
Red is going to look awesome. So get out in the garage and get to work man!

Well I was headed out to work untill I clicked the link to opentrackers. They are gonna sell some stuff after Dec1. Gotta buy some Cleveland parts, and suspension stuff for the Cougar. They will even get the biz for the POD Stang. Consider me sold. I just need some strut rods for a 68 now... Maybe I should build a set.
