C3AE What engine have I bought?
I picked up 2 engines that were advertised as 289 Ford engines. They are older and in need of a re-rebuild. After I cleaned them up, I find the engine #C3AE-6015-N. Researching this number, I find that this engine came from a 1963 Galaxy.
While looking at the Galaxy in 1963, I find that the engine is a 292, not a 289. I also find that Ford used the 292 in trucks and also as a high performance engine.
Here are my questions: 1. How can I determine what exactly the engine is. 2. Will it work in my 1967 Mustage coupe with the Cruise-O-Matic? 3. Is the engine is a 292, is it worth doing?
Thanks all for your input.

OK guys, look past the past 15 years of dust and rust collection. A little time and money and this engine should be worthy. This engine was last raced in a sprint car and when the car was crashed, the engine was put in the garage.
I pulled off a valve cover and found 289 stamped on the head...maybe a good sign. I did not find any of the signs that point to the engine being a HiPo.
