i would stick with the I6 and stay active on fordsix.com and swapping a 250 in would be a pain cause it is a taller motor than the 200 so u will have hood clearance issues

and u can get the speed and the growl from an I6 trust me i know

I am assuming that a 300 i6 would have hood clearence issues as well.

Would it be cheaper to have my engine rebuilt or buy a rebuilt engine. How much is the average cost to rebuild this kind of engine?

You could get a kit for under $500 and do it yourself. After you get the valves ground and hot tanked the block, you will most likely have around a grand in the engine. Now, that is assuming you are not adding performance parts, but are just rebuilding a stock engine. Having someone do all the work for you will cost you around $1500.

I got a rebuilt enging for $1500...you should check out www.fordsix.com if your planning on sticking with a I6...if not just buy a mustang with a V8 already in it

I guess you could make a sleeper out of an I6, but if you are going to pour that much money into a weak engine to begin with, why not just put in a Clevo and beef up the rest of the car?

I was reading about the new FSPP Aluminum Head http://www.classicinlines.com/fspphead.asp?cat=64 and it is pretty impressive, kinda makes one rethink the idea of an i6 being a sleeper of an engine. They seem to be pretty close to completion and are claiming to be able to get 300hp with the head. I think it is expected to be released either this month or next month, my guess is that it will be a little longer than that.

I'm all for having a 300hp engine that gets 23+mpg.

im almost positive u wont still be getting 23mpg with that horsepower even with the I6 cause i have alot of upgrades on mine and im getting like 11mpg but i also drive with a heavy foot but if i drove with a lighter foot i could prolly get near 15mpg
