Default I Dono About The Rest Of You...

but i cant stand doing thing on the ground or on the car or something and not having everything somewhat organized and not having tools and parts strewn all over the garage like a hurricane just swept through etc....so i decided last night at like 2 in the morning, i was going to build a work bench....it took a little while because the drill battery kept dying...gotta get a new drill soon, this one is so ancient.....anyways, just sorta threw it together......still haven't put on the plywood shelf and bench top but that will come in a few minutes....

what kinda workbench setups do you guys have? would u recommend coating it with anything or just leaving it "naked"?

You can't link large images, so your linky no worky. I built two work benches. They are both built the same way, but different shapes. The one in the tool room is in a corner, so it is an "L" shape. They both have 4 X 4 legs, 2 X 4 frames, and 1 X 6 tops. The one in the tool shed has a masonite top on the 1 X 6's because I had a large piece of masonite left over from building a new package tray. I also built a sliding drawer so I could have a place to keep screws, nuts, washers, nails, etc. that are all organized in baby food jars.

Before you put the top on it, consider building some drawers that will go under the top. Here is the one I built a few months back, but it is pretty shallow. I have built them about 18 inches or so deep to keep things like drills and skil saws in. It gets them off the floor and off the shelves. You can get the sliders at any hardware store.

Yeah, can he get a 428 in that thing? And how about the rear, will an 8" do? What size wheels can he run without rubbing? Where is the VIN located? Can he put disk brakes on it? How about the top....should it be vinyl? Would a bench seat be better than buckets? Should he put a hood scoop on it? And most of all.....what color should it be?
