**** maaco!!!!!!!
Alright I have been very pleased with maaco for awhile now. I had my 66 painted a few months ago and it came out awsome. And I did A LOT of body work on that car and it still came out great. Well I have this other 66 that I brought by monday and I just went to go look at it to pick it up and from far away it looks pretty good but up close it looks like ****. He said since there was laquer paint under it from before it made those weird spots. But those spots werent that bad and it wasnt that big of a deal compared to the rest of the car. I did a fair amount of body work on this car but all within the bondo limits of 1/8". Almost all of the areas where I did small amounts of bondo cracked. and its very noticible cracks. I did some minor bondo/putty work and it looks like they totally sanded out the bondo and so there are very big chips in the paint where I repaired. It also looks like they did a ****ty job at prepping because I can see scratch/sand marks under the paint. I am ****ing pissed. Maaco isnt open on the weekends so Ill have to talk to them monday. He offered to strip the paint to get rid of the laquer spots for $650 but thats not even a big deal. I only saw like 2 laquer spots and about 10+ cracks/chips and shiity prepping. **** maaco

I think you will find that just about 100% of guys on this classic forum will agree that Maaco is sub quality to say the least. Sorry about your experience. Now, take your car to a real body paint place.

RE: **** maaco!!!!!!!
because it's a maaco paint job? I'm a firm beleiver in you get what you pay for and, well, sounds like you got what you paid for. now dont get me wrong, no matter how much you pay you shouldnt be paying for cracked paint, but if you got a more professional job i dont think you would be in this situation. good luck getting the issue resolved.

Probably woulda been better off using spray can paint with a some clear coat over it and buffing it.... woulda been cheaper too.... you payed 650... now pay a couple grand and have it done the right way

RE: **** maaco!!!!!!!
I dont think the price really has that much to do with it. All I paid for was prep and paint which includes a final sand. I told him what paint to get. All I was relying on was their prep and paint skill. I knew how well it came out before I was hoping they would do it again. Usually lower price paint jobs mean they use ****ty paint and maybe ****ty primers or prep work but i told them specifically what to do so there should be no issues. They just have no skills or did not take the time and effort. Maybe a lower price paint job means they do a half *** job. i guess thats what defines a ****ty paint shop like maaco

RE: **** maaco!!!!!!!
You could have painted it with a roller brush!!! (Here's a link to a discussion that has been going on at the Moparts board after a fellow with an orange '69 Charger painted his car with a ROLLER BRUSH and it turned out awesome...)
