size of this bolt?

Default size of this bolt?

its what holds the trunk lock in place...i need to go buy a deep socket for it but dont have anything to fit inside it to tell me what size it is...65 mustang

you could always just use a ruler to measure it, if acess is a problem just cut a notch in a stip of cardboard, keep cutting the notch bigger until it just fits over the nut, then measure it

Just get a small set of typical sizes. Trust me, you will eventually use them all in the future. 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, and 11/16 ought to do it.

well im getting those for christmas (secret) but i believe the bolt is larger.

Oh okay that’s a good excuse, I went to check only realize its buried beneath everything (or mine is different hard to say from the pic) maybe the parts store could look it up and possibly tell you.

doubt it...half the time people at parts stores have no clue about even basic car things...all they know is what the little computer tells them when they look up stuff in their sometimes shallow database of parts....and even then they arent that helpful....at least around here...
