Default Disc Brake Conversion Kit

I want to convert to discs for my '65 mustang and have seen the ss brake conversion kits but they seem pretty expensive to me. does anyone know of a quality conversion kit that is a little less expensive or is this one of those you get what you pay for deals?
thank you

You can try the Granada disc brake conversion, it is less expensive. Parts can be gotten from a junk yard or someone parting out a Granada or you can go with new parts from this fellow. I went with the new stuff as I don't have the time to go to the 'yard to find all the necessary stuff.

Others have also used an adapter plate that allows you to use late model Mustang disc brakes.

Here's a Craigslist ad in Denver: http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/238897888.html
for a disc conversion kit.

Kit looks great - all the minor nitnoid parts are included so no extra trips to the auto parts store. I am getting ready to do my front end rebuild so I haven't installed them yet but I like what I see so far. It also allows me to convert a single bowl reservoir to a dual - good for safety. If for some reason you also do a bump steer kit remember you have to order the kit for the '70-'73 Baer Tracker since that is what fits the Granada spindles. (Don't ask me how I know that...)

Just remember that you must have at least 15" wheels for any disc brake conversion. So, if you still have the 14 X 5 original wheels, they won't fit.

FYI, the Stainless Steel dics brake kits will work with 14" wheels. They say 14x7 minimum, but I know my brother is running them with 14x6's without issue. If you go this route, you may want to contact SSBC prior to ordering.
