Default 1969 GT Convertible

A local ad came up today for a numbers matching 1969 GT Convertible with 351 4 barrel (M-Code).
The guy was asking $3000 obo so I thought I'd go see it. I was more curious that anything as
I just picked up a 68 coupe recently and would have to trade my marriage for another car if the
opportunity presents itself.

I looked at the car today and discovered that it was an absolute relic. A Flintstone-mobile with wrotted
out floor pans, shock towers, frame rails, batter apron etc. It was a horrid site.

My question is: Is this car even worth $100 to anyone? I beleive 69 GT convertibles are rare but probably
not rare enough to warrant someone bringing this thing back from the dead.

I just thought I'd through this one out to get some opinions.

My second mustang was a69 GT convertible. It too was a 351w with 4bbl and a 4 speed. It is worth something to someone, but not 3k. Maybe $700 if it is all there.

Here is mine...I was 17 at the time, you can see my first mustang in the background, a 67 coupe.

Wow, nice convertible.
If you still have it I'll give you $3000 for it in a heartbeat!

Just kidding...sort of

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion. Perhaps it's not as rare as I initially thought.

Cheers

I don't know how much the convertible option ups the value, but my '69 was $3500 and it's practically mint condition with a 351c. I smell a serious money pit if it has that much visible problems. If you're serious about a '69 convertible maybe shop around for one w/o rust and spend a couple extra bucks, but save a ton in the long run...

My first new car after the Army was a 69 mach1 that I ordered in 68. A428 SCJ, NASCAR 4speed( 1 3/8 input shaft/11 1/2 inch clutch), 3.91 detroit locker, Marron with gold stripe, No power steering, no power brakes, no AC. non Ram air, Q code. $3150.00 is what I paid for it. . Sold it about 6 years ago with 54000 miles on it

If you are looking for a car with collector value snap that one up. 69 GT's are rare let alone verts with 4 speeds. There were less than 5000 69 GT's made.
