Metal prep for body filler
I want to know when applying body filler what brands are good?and what type is recommended and how corse should the metal be when applying the filler? Basically i understand that the metal has to have some tooth to it so the filler will stick then sand sand and more sanding. then fill air bubbles with a harder blue colored body filler then sand some more then prime?

I have always used 36 grit, it seems to hold very well. And use a metal prep to help clean the metal. I would use a name brand for the putty, remember you get what you pay for. Cheap is not always cheap in the long run.

RE: Metal prep for body filler
I'm not an expert of autobody repair, and most of my experience in bondo comes from using it to create seamless birdfeeders, and the such. However, though I typically use bodo in a woodworking kind of way, don't discount my advice. Thumpin455 knows what he is talking about, and since he is echoing the advice of rmodel65 I'd listen to him. They know what they're talking about, and they'd never steer you wrong on a repair project.
