What other cars did you consider when buying a Mustang?

When I turned 16 there was really only 2 cars I was looking at a 1967 Mustang, and a 1988-1991 Camaro prefferably an IROC-Z with the 350 and t-tops combo. Man, what was I thinking! Thank God I went with the Mustang!

Now I'm no chevy fan and I've wanted my mustang since I was 13. But a friend of mine was moving once so I helped him move his/his dad's car out of his garage to a barn. We pulled a 55 BelAir with a perfect body, complete interior (only needs a head liner) and the original engine out of the back of a garage and trailered it to a barn 5 miles down the road. I'm not from that town but apparently everyone and their brother knew about it but he would never sell, so when we finally pulled it out I swear two city blocks worth of people were there to look at it. She hadn't seen daylight in 15 years and prolly won't for another 15. It was pretty sweet towing that baby down the road we had everybody turning heads and giving us the thumbs up!

Well considering I dont own just one musclecar or hotrod, I pretty much own most of the cars I wanted in addition to a Mustang. 67 Cougar, 64 Fairlane 500 2 door, 70 GTO, 72 GTO, 65 GTO, 79 Trans AM (3 of them), 71 Maverick, 71/72/74/77/79 Formula Firebirds, the 72 is a super rare 455 HO (1 of 276 with HO, 1 of 6 with AC and Auto 1 of 1 with factory applied custom paint) 71 T37 (same body as a GTO but its a lightweight stripper) 71 Ventura (its like a nova but its a Pontiac, had a 6 all manual no AC or heater, so its gonna be a race car) 98 Formula with the LS1 and an automatic, for gas mileage and some powa. Also have a plethora of trucks, 4 F150s, a 2wd Chevy shortbox with a 400 Pontiac in it, and now a pile of 4x4s, mostly GM.
have also had 56 Buick Special and a Century, both 2 door hardtops, black 77 Trans Am 400 4 speed, 65 Galaxie 500, 72 Mustang coupe, 72 Olds Cutlass, and a 1980 BMW 520 when I was stationed in Germany. I wont mention all the parts cars and daily drivers other than my hotrods..
You should see the pile of engines, transmissions, and assorted parts layin around. I was looking for a 67 GTO when I found the Cougar, couldnt find a 67 GTO then. I was stupid and passed up on two Judges, a 69 RA IV 4 speed and a 71 455 HO 4 speed.
Still want a 41 ****** coupe in a bad way... and maybe a 34 Ford and a couple T buckets.
Well not in a factory car, the 350 was mutually exclusive of T tops and 5 speeds. Only automatic full roof cars had 350s. Just FYI, you are better off now anyway. IROCs suck. 3rd gens suck for that matter.. If it has a factory 5 speed or T tops, it wasnt a 350 car. Guaranteed.

I'm actually considering another project vehicle now. I'd really like to take a closer look at the Fairlane / Galaxy 500 in a 65'-68' year range. Even a Torino may catch a second look from me if it's not in total body dispare.
One thing is for certian this time around - I'll find something that needs very minimal sheet metal work. I don't mind doing interior or painting, but I'm done with body work for the most part.

I started off looking at Lexus SUV's because that's what my parents said I was getting. Then I was offered a 50's or 40's Buick from a guy I know. We didn't really consider that car but it's what brought the classics into the equasion. I started off looking fora Nova II and considering a '56-'57 Bel Air but then we found the 'Stang . It was a good choice
