Default Stubborn axle seals

I'm in the process of replacing the original axle seals and I have tried everything to get them out. I've been working on the drivers side for about an hour and it isnt even close to coming out. Give me some tips on what I can do! Thanks.

But if I pry there won't I also be screwing up the area where the seal sits? Which will then make it not seal good.

You need to get a bearing puller. A slide bearing puller would work also.

Well I finally got one side out. I used a screwdriver to pry it the rest of the way out.

Glade you got it out. To answer your other question, No it wont hurt the place that you would have pried. That area is hardened, the seal gives instead of the screwdriver nicking the serface, Done it about 50 times with no problem.
Next time you try this , use a claw hamer, put the claws under the seal and pull the nail, works just like a seal puller except its free.

The hammer I have is too big for the claw to get in there, I was going to do that right away.

I was going to replace the bearings. I took the axles to a shop today and he said my bearings are still good. So I'll just replace them some other time.
