vynil top pros and cons what are they??
I was thinking of putting a vynil top on the car and was wondering what is the pros or cons of having one. The car did not come with one. Iam going with the original apple green I don't know the correct name of it. I like the black vynil look with that color. I might have it just painted semi gloss black instead. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Dave

Back in the day, these cars were competinng with other 60's cars for sales. The vinyl top was one of the so-called upgrades back then. However, if you were to talk with any vinyl top owners here you will find that the rust that is created under the vinyl to the the roof metal is a travesty. Nah, don't go with a vinyl roof. You will be sorry.

In general I agree with Soaring. A daily driver that gets wet a lot will be vulnerable to rust. Your sig says you live in Vegas. Rust might not be as big of a concern for you. On the other hand a black top might be a little hot in the desert. IMO a painted black top would not be a good looking option.
As for me I keep my white vinyl topped car in the garage. I love the way my top looks, but it adds another layer of concern to the maintenance of my car.
As with anything, proper installation and upkeep is key.

I thought the painted black top might not look right and yea it does not rain here much to worry about rust. IF I did go with a vynil top where do you get one??? Thanks, Dave

a ravor blade then u pretty much sand the glue off
on thing i would consider is so tintable bedliner u could lay it out farily flat and tint it what ever color u wanted and rust wouldnt start under it
