RE: Cars of Cuba
yea i know plenty of people down here that do the traveling through another country but if the US catches that you're screwed. As for the boats, i dont know about that; plenty of people get caught here for hauling over there in a speed boat to bring people. What other means? private flying...? hell na lol my cousin, Brothers to the Rescue got shot down in 1996 so screw that... the whole government sucks!

RE: Cars of Cuba
yes third country travel by US citizens is still illegal. However, there are certain provisions where a US citizen may travel to cuba, however not for pleasure. Just build a raft and the guys with the funny hats will think you want to go back home and leave you alone. In a speedy you're just another drug runner

RE: Cars of Cuba
yah paddy,
that's exactly it. they even did the same with my passport.
Once back home the paper is far gone. no sign of me ever been to cuba. No hassle for me going over to states ;-)
A canadian told me in Cuba that a boat that landed in Cuba and has this stamped in papers is not allowed to land in _any_ american harbour for the next year (embargo ....)
Americans are alowed to travel there though. But they're not allowed buying/selling any cuban products in the U.S (cuban cigars and stuff ...)
Foodwise the Cubans themselves have food vouchers. With those they can get food from the market. You can't but food in a supermarket there. believe me I tried.
If you go to a restaurant they have chicken and eggs. and that's that. if you order a salad you'll get a sliced tomato or grated cabbage.
If you stay in a casa particular they are not supposed to cook for you. They'll ask though. That is where you get a proper meal in Cuba. (they use tyhe money for your stay to get some food which they normally can't get). And they'll cook that for you and they do that great.
So if someone says: food sucked. then yes I agree. But if you get to stay with a family they prepare fantastic stuff...
at least that was my experience

Someone I knowwent there on a divetrip via usa - canada - cuba. While there he got hurt, needless
to say his blue cross blue shield insurance isnt valid in cuba, but cash was readily accepted. He had to
sqaure up his debt before they wouldLET him leave.
