Default Cheap HP???

Hey, im looking for a way to add cheap HP to my newly acquired 69 302V8.

I have been looking at both the Nos and Edelbrock Nitrous systems and was wondering exactly how much can a stock 69 302 handle safely? Is there anyother way I can add cheap horsepower to it? I have already found a set of headers for it.

I also have been investigating universal turbo's that hook to a cap on the carb and are electrically powered off the alternator. They claim to improve MPG and gain about 40HP, they can also be run all the time or at the flick of a switch. They also claim not to dim lights and are energy effecient. Has anyone had experience with one of these?

One last thing: What kind of power ains can I expect from an Edelbrockperformance aluminum intake?

If anyone else has some suggestions on how to improve HP cheaply let er rip, im all ears.

there are lots of other things to do before going to nitrous. Why not look into an exhaust, heads, intake, rear end gears...

How much horsepower do you want to make and what is your ballpark budget (Better plan for twice of what you intend to spend - Murphy's Law).

To me it's always a balancing act between torque and reliability...

Well if there was anyway i could get it to 260-300hp w/out doing a rebuild id be happy, but yes reliability is my first concern.

I have acquired a set of tri-y headers and im building a side exhaust w/Cherry bomb turbo mufflers. Will that boost my hp at all??
I have looked at various intakes but I dont know if/how much that could boost my power?

Does anyone know a website that sells bolt on aftermarket heads? What kind of HP boosts can a head swap return? (I dont know crap about aftermarket heads?)

if you are on a budget, look into Edelbrock performer RPM, you could also look into RPM intake, or air gap, which would work well with the heads.

better flowing exhaust always helps but probably not a TON......think of intake, carb....heads are the most sure-fire way to add HP but arent that cheap....

Those headers/mufflers will give you an increase in HP but nothing crazy - headsare where you will make lots of power. "Edelbrock Performer or AFR 185 are adequate. Lower-displacement small-blocks like the 289 or 302 get by nicely with 1.94/1.60-inch valve sizing."

with longtube headers, a new intake and carb and you should be close to 300 if the right parts are chosen
