i wonder what your numbers would have been at the flywheel with a RPM or airgap intake and maybe a 625 or 650 carb.......

Don't think those manifolds existed in 1989? The motor, sans heads, was built by RHS and the heads were built by Valley Head Service in Los Angeles ... and then fixed by another shop. [:@]

In the lightweight '65 GT, it was a nice runner back in the days before everybody and their mother sold high performance aluminum heads.

also dont run a c6 they are way to big for the 351w a c4 auto will do just right, the c6 is for a big block.

whats wrong with tranny overkill? stonger is always better.

i know edelbrock didnt make the airgaps back then but i would have thought they made the RPM's (they are loosely based on the old shelby / cobra SBF intakes)

i'd love to see dyno comparisons with HP losses C4 vs. C6 - im sure there may be some but i dunno how much.

a built C4 can be stronger than a C6, but in stock trim a C6 is pretty damn stout

A 351w with a C6 was a factory option, but that doesn't matter real men drive with three pedals.

gothand, what do you think the true HP was at the flywhel on your 302? Seems like your reading should have been higher even atthe wheel with the 270 cam. I am going with an Air-Gap and a 650 carb with the stock heads, or a 750 if I go with the big valve set.

As an interesting sideline too on my project, the motor was raced at the local strip here. It was pretty much bone stock except for slicks. No suspesion mods, ladders bars or anything. When I tore it down it had a Comp Cams 303 with pretty high domed pistons and stock valve train. Removed the glove box this weekend and found old time slips from the runs this car made in 1984. Best wast 12.25 at 117 MPH but averaged around 12.5 110 mostly.

hahahaha sweet. finding time slips in the glovebox would be awsome

btw 750 is too big for a SBF unless your building a 400+ c.i. stroker
