Default Purchased '66 Mustang, first car, pics, questions...

I just purchased this '66 I6 Mustang for $4,000.oo. A good price for the condition in my opinion. The paint is obviously newer, it is in fair condition with some big dings here and there but that's all. There is no rust on the car. It has an automatic transmission (used to be manual), it has manual brakes, and manual steering. My first project will be to purchase a power brake kit. Then possibly a power steering kit (though they are a bit pricey)

Anyway....
I plan on eventually getting some Torque Thrust D's or II's. However, I tryed searching Google, as well as this forum, but couldn't find any kits or info on 5 lug conversion kits. WIll I need to purchase new axle assemblies?
Can someone please point me towards a site or store where I can order them?

Thanks, David.

Whoops typoe. Yea, it's a '66 =]
And since I eventually (2-5 years) plan on doing an engine swap, I don't plan on putting any uneeded money into the engine.

engine swap is alot of work you should get ahold of the big six cause you can do more with it and then build that up cause that is a good motor there and can be very fast and give alot of torque for a cheap price

As for the first part: I can do all teh work. I've had a vast array of automotive experience. I've disassembled, blueprinted, and reassembled 2 engines before. One of which was a 289.

I did consider building up the straight six that I currently have. A good, and knowledgeable, friend sort of talked me out of it though. He said that once I put a bunch of money into the 6 that I will just be able to keep up with stock V8's. He is basically right.

Roller rockers:450
Headers:450
Head work:500-1000
Intake/carb setup:600

That right there is mabe only 50 horsepower, and I'm almost halfway to a new crate engine.

I do like the idea of building one up, having 7 main caps and all. I just don't see it being beneficial at all.

Can someone convince me otherwise? =)

its not bad 5 lug on it the front is easy the rear you have to change out the rear end the 6 banger cars used a 7 somthing inch rear end the v8 cars used a 8 or 9 inch dont forget to change the springs and brakes when you swap to a v8

put a turbo on the 6 and it will even eat up modified v8s and it would be fairly easy all you would need it the turbo kit and a good 2bbl or 4bbl (small one) intake and carb connected to a turbo setup and ban your in busness try these guys Ford Six
